Microbiological composition of sludge generated in water treatment plants

Studies that focus on the microbiological composition of water treatment plants (WTP) sludge, as well its pathogenicity, are extremely necessary, especially with regard to environmental regulations, where characterization WTP waste can encourage new policies related management. In Brazil, few studies address which, in general, is classified non-hazardous and non-inert waste, this material being little explored. This case study performed sludge samples from two WTPs located state São Paulo, before after centrifugation process. The determination microbial density morphology, Gram staining, identification presence total thermotolerant coliforms were produced different years, used coagulants (liquid aluminum sulfate or polyaluminum chloride ferric chloride). Results evaluated along physicochemical analysis waste. microalgae protozoa non-centrifuged among main results study.
